St Pat’s gifted AED for school
ST Patrick’s Primary School recently received an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as part of the first national Drive-a-thon organised by St John Ambulance.
The initiative is part of a St John Ambulance effort to save lives and empower communities across the country.
The Drive-a-thon began in Darwin on National Restart a Heart Day (Wednesday, October 16), and will conclude in Adelaide on Saturday, December 14, in time for the St John Ambulance Carols by Candlelight.
Over 60 days, volunteers will travel more than 16,000 km across every state and territory, delivering free CPR training to 5000 Australians and installing $50,000 worth of lifesaving AEDs.
The initiative is designed to enhance community safety and empower communities across the country.
Assistant principal Tarryn Delaney said the school was pleased to partner with St John ambulance for the Drive-a-thon and thanked them for the donation.
“We are extremely grateful to receive the AED from St John Ambulance,” she said.
“We are working on having it in a location to allow the community to access it when needed.
“The staff at St Patrick’s School renewed their first aid certificates including their certificate to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.”
