Stabbing in Mortlake
POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding an alleged stabbing in Mortlake on Tuesday evening.
A man has been arrested following the alleged stabbing incident, which left a 48-year-old man with upper body injures.
The incident was alleged to have occurred in Mortlake on May 7 at Mac’s Hotel.
“It is believed the victim was inside a licensed premises on Dunlop Street when he was stabbed by a man with an edged weapon just after 6.30pm,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
“A 48-year-old Western Australia man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“The offender left the scene however officers located and arrested the man shortly after.
“A 35-year-old Bannockburn man is currently assisting police with enquiries.”
The man has since been charged with a number of offences including assault with a weapon, intentionally causing serious injury and reckless conduct endangering life.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed a 48-year-old man was airlifted to Melbourne in a stable condition.
“Paramedics responded to an incident in Mortlake at around 6.40pm on Tuesday evening,” the spokesperson said.
“One man in his 40s was transported by air ambulance to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with upper body injuries.”
