Stableford at Terang
TWENTY-seven players competed in a stableford event at the Terang Golf Club last Saturday.
The winner was Taj Podger (20) 45 points from runner-up Brad Lucas (27) 38.
Down the line: Mark Couzens (2) 37, Paddy Scanlon (20) 36, Stephen O’Connor (17) 36, Ryley Hutchins (16) 34 and Billy Wood (18) 34.
Nearest the pins: 6th Paddy Scanlon, 8th Taj Podger and 11th Max Kavanagh.
The stableford on grand final eve (last Friday) was won by Nick Marshall (15 handicap) on 42 points, followed by Phil Beasley (+1) 36 on countback.
Down the line: Leo Beasley 36 and Liam Venn 34.
Nearest the pins: 3rd Liam Venn, 6th Gary Marr, 8th Phil Beasley.
This weekend will be stroke monthly medal and putting on Saturday.
The top eight finishes will qualify for the Geoff Kenna Match Play knockout tournament.
An 18-hole stableford will be contested on Sunday from 10.30am onwards.
Sunday competitions will continue throughout the summer season of golf.
Last Thursday’s competition was won by Aileen Clarke with a score of 32 points, followed by Cate Glennon, 31 on countback from Marion Venn (who also won balls down the line).
Nearest the pins: 9th from off the green Marion Venn, 11th Jane Heffernan.
Winner of the all-day 18 hole competition was Max Kavanagh with an excellent score of 42 points.
The runner-up was Paddy Scanlon on 40.
Balls down the line went to Jeremy Attrill 39 points and Leo Beasley, also on 39.
Nearest the pins: 6th Jeremy Attrill, 8th Taj Podeer and 11th Colin Venn.
Winner of the all day stableford nine-hole event was Frank O’Connor with 15 points.
With the weather warming up, the club invites people to the course to join in the day – women’s competition from 9.30am-10.30am Thursdays and an all-day stableford of 18 holes or the choice of nine.
