THE rapidly-rising Stallions ran into a brick wall in round seven of Corangamite volleyball when they were beaten by top teams Poachers and NOBTS.

The Stallions’ two losses meant that Slugs were able to work their way into the top four thanks to a hard-fought draw with Ballbusters.

It may be temporary though because Slugs face the same two leading teams next round.

With two rounds to play, only percentage splits Poachers and NOBTS so it will be interesting to see which team claims the minor premiership.

They play each other in round eight so more will be known soon.

If Ballbusters and Slugs can get their best teams on the court in the next two weeks, they will make a big difference to who plays who in the A grade finals while preparing themselves for mighty B grade finals as well.

Results from round seven: Ballbusters def. Rascals 4-0, NOBTS def. Stallions 2-1, Bulls def. Slugs 3-1, Poachers def. Stallions 3-1, Slugs drew with Ballbusters 2-2, NOBTS def. Rascals 4-0 and Poachers def. Bulls 2-1.

The ladder after August 22: Poachers 44, NOBTS 44, Bulls 34, Slugs 22, Stallions 20, Ballbusters 8, Rascals 0.
