State championships await

FOUR students from Cobden Technical School are regional table tennis champions.

After winning the intermediate division at last month’s Greater Western Region Championships, Felix Nguena, Alan Warden, Adam Jopling and Kenzo Castano Castejon will now head to the School Sports Victoria state titles in Melbourne in November.

At the regional championships in Warrnambool on August 8, the group defeated Warrnambool College five rubbers to one and then went on to defeat Mercy Regional College 4-2.

The winning result came down to the last doubles match against Mercy, which saw Adam and Kenzo fight it out to the end, winning their doubles match 3-2.
