State Concert Orchestra coming to C’down
FROM ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘My Fair Lady’ to timeless classics and operetta, the Victorian State Concert Orchestra (VSCO) will be bringing a virtuoso performance to Camperdown.
The VSCO will visit Camperdown next Sunday, June 16 from 2-4.30pm, and will be based at Camperdown’s Theatre Royal.
The orchestra will perform a selection of songs including the rousing ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ and the Andrea Bocelli/Sarah Brightman duet ‘Time to Say Goodbye’.
The program combines classical and popular music to appeal to people of all ages and tastes.
Events and creative industries team leader Tammy Young invited everybody to come along and enjoy an afternoon of quality musical entertainment.
“Formed in 1926, the VSCO is renowned for providing high-quality, light entertainment that's accessible, affordable and enjoyable to people in rural and regional areas,” she said.
“The 45-member orchestra is conducted by Gerald Keuneman OAM, who you would have heard playing cello on the soundtracks of iconic Australian movies such as ‘The Man From Snowy River’, ‘Crocodile Dundee’, and Oscar winners ‘Babe’ and ‘Shine’.”
The performance also includes solo violinist Loretta Meagher, soprano Veronica Iredale and tenor Nicholas Matters.
Biographies on orchestra members are available at victorianstateconcertorchestra.com.
Tickets are $20 from events.humanitix.com/vsco.
There will be two coffee vans on site for patrons to buy refreshments before the concert and during intermission.
Cold drinks and snacks will also be available.
