Stephenson to run Point to Pinnacle
PHARMACY assistant Riley Stephenson will be running a half marathon to raise funds for brain cancer research, in memory of her brother.

PHARMACY assistant Riley Stephenson will be running a half marathon to raise funds for brain cancer research, in memory of her brother.
Ms Stephenson will be running the Point to Pinnacle in November this year to help raise funds for Carrie’s Beanies for Brain Cancer, running alongside Amy Stephenson and Hannah Fleming as part of the ‘3 Rangas’ team.
To prepare, Ms Stephenson said she has been doing lots of walking, especially up hills.
“The whole marathon’s a hill, so I’ve been training to be walking up hills,” she said.
“I am slowly getting more stamina in the legs.”
In the lead-up, daffodils are being sold at the Camperdown Pharmacy to help raise funds.
The flowers, priced at $10 a bunch, will be sold until the event on Sunday, November 19.
Ms Stephenson said they have had many bunches sell.
The cause is close to Ms Stephenson’s heart, with her brother Lachie losing his battle with brain cancer in January last year.
The family also have the ‘Cure Brain Cancer for Stevo’ which was started after Lachie’s death.
Ms Stephenson said the Point to Pinnacle team fundraiser has a target of $1000 to begin with, with plans to extend.
“We’ve got another fundraiser that we started after my brother passed away, and we got that up to $67,000,” she said.
“We’ll keep that going, and that doesn’t close, so people can still donate to that.”
The 3 Rangas have so far raised $220 for the cause.
