Stock agents provide gift
A COLLECTIVE of livestock agents have come together to provide a donation to the Camperdown Hopsital, utilising the last of the funds from working at the Camperdown Saleyards.
The Camperdown Associated Agents was a long-standing collective of livestock agents who operated from the Camperdown Saleyards for many years, with 13 companies working within the yards at its peak.
HF Richardson’s Tim Healey, Charles Stewart Nash McVilly’s Brian Rowbottom, Elders’ Clarke Roycroft and Charles Stewart’s Lindsay Robb came together last Friday to meet with Camperdown Hospital Auxiliary president Ian Currell and present a donation of $3729.97.
The donation will go towards the auxiliary’s fundraising for the Camperdown Hospital to have piped medical air installed alongside funds raised through other avenues in recent weeks.
Medical air is used in inhaled anaesthetic and provides respiratory support for patients undergoing surgery and can help to reduce post-operative nausea.
The decision to donate to the auxiliary was made following a recent meeting of the remaining agents at the time of the saleyards’ closure in June 2024 as a way to ensure funds accumulated throughout the running of the saleyards would benefit the Camperdown community.
Mr Healey said the decision to donate to the hospital auxiliary was unanimous and would provide meaningful and lasting support to the community.
“It’s sad the saleyards have closed down, but we feel that this is the best way to contribute to the community,” he said.
“The saleyards was a great part of the community for many years, so it’s great to give back.
“This contribution reflects the enduring connection between the livestock industry and the Camperdown community and recognises the importance of supporting essential local services.”
Mr Currell extended his gratitude to the Camperdown Associated Agents for its contribution to the hospital.
“The auxiliary is so lucky we have a great community and a great group of people who support the hospital and the hospital auxiliary,” he said.
“It’s fantastic people think of us when it’s time to donate money.”
