Storm appoints coaches
LAST week the Heytesbury-Princetown Cricket Club announced that Matthew Love and Simon Harkness had been appointed as co-coaches for the 2026/27 season.
“It was nice to lock it in early, it allows for planning for next season to start now,” Storm president Michael Vogels said.
“It really was an easy decision, we’re super excited to have them both in the role, you wouldn’t find two more passionate and experienced cricket brains in the district.”
2026/27 will be former premier level cricketer Love’s third season at the Storm.
“He (Love) just loves it at our club and was really keen to keep going in the role.
“The knowledge he brings from the level of cricket he has played is first rate.”
After a couple of years interstate, Harkness has returned to Timboon this year and has been a star performer for the Storm once again.
“Harko just oozes leadership, his level of organisation is a big strength and he too knows the game inside out.
“They’re both just cricket nuts and real positive influences around the club.”
Vogels said Love and Harkness would take a whole club approach to drive the Storm’s program forward.
“We have high ambitions to introduce a women’s team into the south west competition and ramp up our junior development.
“Both Lovey and Harko are keen to push this as well as continuing to move our senior men’s program forward.”
