Storm finishes on a high
DESPITE going into the Mortlake Volleyball grand final as the underdogs, Storm has taken out the 2023 premiership from favourites, Vipers.

Vipers had lost just one match prior to the big dance and were favourites for the flag.
Vipers won the first two sets and with the grand final being the best of five sets, looked set to win in a clean sweep.
Storm won the following two sets which set them up for a great game.
The final set saw Storm take a handy lead and they then maintained that lead to win three sets to two.
Team members were Jordan Loader, Bray Wright, Shelly Bradbury, Nathan Maddock, Deca Bradbury, Nelson Loader and Noni Harris-Wallace.
Their opponents, Vipers, comprised Jarrod Rethus, Kyle Rethus, Olivia Campbell, Chiarra Taylor and Judi Robertson.
The best and fairest was, for consecutive pennants, won by Jarrod Rethus and newcomer to the competition Petra Pable-Kecskes won the women’s award.
Petra played at an elite level for her home country as a junior and Mortlake is very fortunate to have her play with the competition when her family moved to the town.
Runners-up were Kyle Rethus and Chiarra Taylor.
Volleyball now has a break until after Easter next year.
