Strong rainfall for winter’s start

WINTER got off to a wet start for the region, with June seeing strong rainfall in Camperdown, Lismore and Derrinallum.


Camperdown experienced 152.5mm of rainfall over the month – almost double to long-term monthly average of 77.4mm

The figure also surpasses the June 2025 total of 123.3mm.

June 2 saw the highest daily rainfall recorded in Camperdown, with a whopping 36mm hitting the ground in 24 hours.

Camperdown’s total rainfall for 2026 currently sits at 340.7mm.

Meanwhile, Lismore also saw an impressive rainfall total for June with 93.4mm recorded.

The figure surpasses the June average of 54.4mm, as well as the previous year’s total of 81.8mm for the same month.

Lismore’s highest daily rainfall was 15.2mm, which was recorded on June 5.

The total rainfall tally for 2026 in Lismore is currently 278.8mm.

While Derrinallum did not pass the average or the previous year’s total, strong rainfall was also recorded within a single day.

The June total for Derrinallum was 47.4mm of rainfall, with close to half of the total recorded on June 5 at 23.8mm falling in 24 hours.

Despite the strong rainfall on June 5, Derrinallum’s rainfall tally for June did not pass the long-term average of 57mm or the previous year’s total of 93.6mm.

To date, Derrinallum’s rainfall total for 2026 is 209.7mm.
