Strong results at Timboon
THE Timboon golf course is in great condition, providing ideal conditions for some good scores.
The first round of championships last Wednesday, November 6, saw Donna Weller (playing off a handicap of nine) equal her own course record, first set in 2014.
Weller finished on a gross score of 76.
Sophie Bowker and Susanne Wallace, playing off for the October monthly medal, both had great scores.
Susanne’s 105-35-72 was just enough to beat Sophie’s 97-24-73 by one shot.
Championship leaders after round one:
Open – Donna Weller 76, Lynne Newton 84, Judy Walsh 84.
B grade – Maureen Clements 93, Judy Delaney 94 and Sophie Bowker 97.
C grade – Susanne Wallace 105, June Ayres 115 and Judith Wallace 116.
Daily competition results saw Donna Weller 76-9-67 win on countback from runner-up Lynne Newton 84-17-67.
Balls down the line: Maureen Clements 93-24-69.
Nearest the pins: 5th Nelle Cashmore, 7th Lynne Newton, 13th Andrea Thompson.
Next week is a stroke round for the second week of the ladies’ championship.
Last Saturday saw members play stroke for the first round of the Timboon Championship.
In the daily competition, division one was won by Richard Stone with nett 69 from Darren smith with 69 and Jeff Costin 72.
Division two was won by Rohan Johns with nett 73 from Andrew Gant 77 and Rhys Ziegelaar 81.
Nearest the pins: 5th Rohan Johns, 7th Colin Eslum, 10th Percy Gillin and 14th Rodney edge.
Nutrien ball on the 11th was won by Chris Huffadine.
Standings after the first round are:
A grade – Alistair Gillin 78, Darren Smith 78, Jamie Norton 78 and Peter Cashmore 82.
B grade – Richard Stone 84, Jeffrey Costin 85, Geoff Norton 86, Peter Plozza 87.
C grade – Mark McKenzie 89, Bill Finlayson 90, Jack Rowe 90 and John Bertram 93.
D grade – Rohan Jones 97, Andrew Grant 104, Francis Togni 105 and Rhys Ziegelaar 107.
This Saturday, November 16, will be round two and Sunday round three/monthly medals.
