Strong round from Palmer

PETER Palmer finished on 41 points to win last Saturday’s stableford event at the Mortlake Golf Club.

Runner-up was Hamish Weatherly (3) on 38 points followed by Wes Wareham (16) on 37.

Nearest the pins: 3/12 Scott Richie, 6/15 Peter Palmer and 9/18 Richard van Diemen.

Balls down the line went to Wes Wareham, Garry Shalders, Craig Fowler and Paul Wareham.

NAGA was Ian Jubb.

Peter Palmer’s scratch 74 broke his age of 75 by one stroke – a significant effort.

Last Friday’s nine-hole twilight competition was also won by Peter Palmer, 6-38-32 on countback, from Ken Murley 21-53-32 on countback from Andrew Hunger 11-43-32.

Nearest the pin on the 9th was Peter Palmer.

Next week’s event is a three-person ambrose.
