Strong round of bowls

CAMPERDOWN Bowling Club’s division three midweek side faced Colac City 3 at home this week.

On rink two, Vicki Brebner, Barry Atchison, Les Dorman and Judy Borthwick played T.Lloyd’s team.

They led 4-2 on the sixth end but by the 12th end this had blown out to 12-5.

In the last five ends they won two ends while the opposition scored three, with 17-12 the final score.

Brad Wilson, Les Pearson, Pam Atchison and Debbie Noonan played on rink three against G. Harris and his team.

Camperdown had a slow start to the game, only winning on two ends out of the first six.

Going into the last five ends they hit the lead 13-12 but could only manage to score on the last two ends, going down 16-18 overall.

In the last rink, Maria Van Someren, Henry Henderson, Graeme Chamberlain and Donna Watts had a hard fought game.

By the sixth end they had only scored on two ends but were only down by two shots, 3-5.

After the next six ends Camperdown led 8-7 before scoring on three of the last to come home victors, 15-12.

This now puts them 30 points ahead of their rivals Camperdown Golf 2 who they will play next week at the Magpies nest.

Warm and blustery conditions saw division one host the ladder leaders, Apollo Bay last weekend.

The overall score was tight throughout, with the home side coming out on top 106-100.

Van Someren played against Trevor Higgins and had a good match, going down 22-27.

Matthew Brewer, Leonard Searle, Ian Henderson and Raymond Bourke came up against the rink skipped by Jason Bertrand.

It was a tough day for the team who eventually went down 15-39.

The rink of Ronald Cameron, Neville Salmon, Kevin Rundle and David Wilson played Heath McLaren’s rink and scored a good win for Camperdown 36-19.

Luke Wright, Darren Page, Vicki Brebner and Harry Van Someren played the Apollo Bay rink of Paul Cameron.

They had a solid victory, winning 33-15.

Division three notched up another win for the season, defeating Colac Central 80-73.

Ronald Absalom, Les Dorman, Pamela Atchison and Jim Boyd led the way with a 15-shot victory over John Langdon’s rink, 28-13.

The team of Graeme Chamberlain, Paul Brebner, Phillip Robertson and Graeme Taylor had a close match against the team skipped by Normie Dowie, winning 19-16.

Thomas Hose, David Coverdale, Anthony Dickson and Gordon Weller went down to Leonard Armistead’s team 14-25.

Another close match saw Les Pearson, Max Rippon, Brent Noonan and Gerard Broderick defeat Edward Invermee’s team 19-18.
