Strong showing against league leaders
ROUND Four of Division One bowls action saw Camperdown play host to ladder leaders Simpson, who were coming off three straight wins.
But Camperdown started with plenty of intensity and the tea break were up on all rinks leading by a margin of 30 shots.
Darren Coverdale, Barry Atchison, Ludwig Gungle and Donna Van Someren, who have started the year with some great bowling, played against Kurt Wilson and had a good win 31-19.
Matthew Brewer, Leonard Searle, Ian Henderson and Raymond Bourke came up against the rink skipped by Robert Methven, who had not lost a game, but the Brewer rink put a stop to the Simpson rink, prevailing 25-18.
The rink of Ronald Cameron, Neville Samlon, Kelvin Rundle and David Wilson played the ring of Leroy Mahoney, shooting out of the blocks with a12-shot lead at the tea break.
Simpson clawed their way back with some good bowls, but the Cameron team held on to their lead winning by seven shots, 32-25.
Luke wright, Darren Page, Vicki Brebner and Harry Van Someren played the Simpson rink of Scott Harris.
They had a tight contest, being level on several occasions throughout the match, but with three ends to play Luke’s rink picked up six shots to win 24-22.
Overall Camperdown triumphed by 28 shots.
Division Three hosted sister club, Camperdown golf, scoring their first win for the year.
Ronald Absalom’s team led the way with a 23-shot victory over Trey Darcy’s rink, 33-10.
A slow start saw the team of Graeme Chamberlain struggle to make inroads against the team skipped by Garry Brian, losing 19-28.
The team skipped by Thomas Hose led all day, but in the end went down to the team of John Salau, 20-22.
Another close match saw Ronald Simcox’s team just going down to the team of Irene Wyles, 15-17.
Another victory for the giants with a 10-shot win.
Division Five played against Birregurra at home.
The team skipped by Anthony Dickson lost to Edward Williamsons team by 12 shots, 13-25.
Hubertis Sloejtes team went down to the team skipped by Jenny Phillips, 9-30.
Overall, Camperdown lost to the guests by 33 shots.
