Strong start for Cats
RESULTS from the opening round of the Warrnambool Moyne District cricket competition has seen Mortlake shoot to the top of the division one Premier leaderboard.

Mortlake’s 2024/25 season is off to a great start, defeating Warrnambool last weekend.
The previous week’s opening day saw Warrnambool win the toss and elect to bat.
Accuracy on the pitch and in the field by the Cats saw Warrnambool restricted to 10/57 in the 30th over.
Todd Robertson was effective with the ball, taking 5/4 off five overs which included three maidens.
In reply the Cats declared at 9/184 after 67 overs with middle order batsman, captain Todd Lamont, hitting 54 off 90 balls.
He was well supported by newcomer to the club Kalhan Sineth with an impressive 62 off 124 balls which included five boundaries.
Sent back in to bat last Saturday, Warrnambool again struggled against the Cats, who have found good form early in the season – with Warrnambool 10/89 in the 49th over.
Robertson again showed form with the ball, taking 3/16 off 10 while Clinton Baker finished the day with figures of 3/23.
Other wickets fell for Clinton Baker 3/23 and Taj Podger 2/9.
The Cats’ Premier side will face Dennington at home this Saturday.
