COBDEN’S Open grade netballers got their 2023 Hampden League season off to a winning start with a 17-goal win over Koroit.

The Bombers, once again led by talented mid-courter Sophie Hinkley, showed they will again be serious flag contenders, enjoying a comfortable 60-47 goal victory in front of their home crowd on Saturday.

Hinkley, who spent some time in the goal circle and added six to the scoreboard, was named among the team’s best alongside sisters Emily (39 goals) and Jaymie (15 goals) Finch.

In the division one match, Cobden also showed agility and versatility across the court to take the points over the Saints, winning 47-30.

Best for the Bombers were Grace Taylor Helene Foster and Jessica McGlade.

The Bombers’ division two and three sides both went down to the Saints.

Division two players Alice Dawson, Kayla Pouw and Hannah Justin were named best on court in the 26-51 goal loss while in division three Amy Kavenah, Macey-lee Hickey and Tayla Hickey were best for the home side in its 35-41 defeat.
