Strong support for Room 11 fundraiser
A STRONG crowd got together for a boot-scooting good time in Derrinallum last Sunday for a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Room 11, managing to raise $1800 for the charity.

The fundraiser, inspired by Morning Melodies, saw people from Camperdown, Lismore, Derrinallum, Skipton, Beaufort, Warrnambool, Ballarat and Timboon come together to enjoy an afternoon of good music, good food and good company.
Organiser Lorraine Uren said everyone who attended enjoyed the afternoon, with many also giving cash donations on the day alongside purchasing raffle tickets.
“It was fabulous – I couldn’t have wished for any better,” she said.
“I haven’t done anything like that at the hall before, and I was a bit worried about how many were going to fit in the hall and be comfortable.
“It all worked out really well and everybody supported it.
“I had about 16 raffles – people supported the raffles really well.
“Afterwards was even better – all the locals jumped in and helped me clean up after the event.”

Ian ‘Bidge’ Boyd, Rosie Pemberton, Nick ‘Pickles’ Cole and Di and Kim McCarthy saw many bopping along as they enjoyed conversation and nibbles, with some even getting up and showing off their best line dancing moves.
Of the 75 bookings received, between 65 and 70 attended, with some still paying to enter even if some of their group were missing to support the cause.
“Everybody was saying to let them know if I was going to run another one, so I’m thinking we can try another possibly six months down the track,” Ms Uren said.
“Bidge is keen to support me in having another one, so I’m sure we’ll try and organise another one.”
Ms Uren extended her gratitude to everyone who supported the event, whether they attended, made a donation or donated raffle prizes.
“Thank you to Bidge, Rosie, Pickles, Di and Kim for donating their time to entertain us,” she said.
“Thank you to Fiona Noone for the decorations – we had decorations left over from other functions, but she made them all and has helped me promote the event.
“I couldn’t do it on my own. I’m glad people came and enjoyed it – it was all for a good cause.
“That’s what makes it a good day – when you’ve got the support of everyone.”
