Strong win for the Tigers
WOORNDOO/Mortlake’s senior footballers had a strong 33 point win over fellow finals contender Hawkesdale/Macarthur in the round eight Mininera League senior football match on Saturday.
The Tigers kicked six goals to one in the opening term to set the tone for their 12.10.82 to 7.7.49 win.
Zeb McKenna, Keilan Webster-Bamford, Matt Pemberton, Hugh Fleming, Damien McCorkell and Ed Gubbins were best in the win.
Zach Lubeek kicked three goals and two each to McKenna, Simon Atkinson, Lochie Gunning and James Coghlan West.
The win moves Woorndoo/Mortlake into second spot, a game clear now of Hawkesdale/Macarthur.
Hawkesdale/Macarthur had a dominant 15.16.106 to 0.2.2 win in the reserves match.
Bowdyn Webster-Bamford, William Kosch, Matthew Bourchier and Jack Smith were best for Woorndoo/Mortlake in the loss.
The under 17 football saw Hawkesdale/Macarthur score an 11.12.78 to 2.7.19 win.
Kai Crawley, Elijah Bradbury, Sam Mahncke and Cooper Francis were Woorndoo/Mortlake’s best.
The under 13 football saw Woorndoo/Mortlake have a convincing win, 9.13.67 to 0.1.1.
Archie Dale, Oliver Harris, Jack Allen and Billy Crawley were best for the junior Tigers, with Harris bagging four goals and one each to Crawley, Alexander Pilcher, Mason Crawley and Jack Allen.
In the A grade netball, Hawkesdale/Macarthur was too strong, recording a 46-30 win.
Ashlea Spokes scored 17 goals in the loss, with Mia Richie scoring six goals and Rachel Eldridge five.
Hawkesdale/Macarthur had a 39-15 win in the B grade game; with Kristy Crawley leading the scoring for Woorndoo/Mortlake with nine.
The C grade game saw Hawkesdale/Macarthur score a 27-15 win, Chelsea McCosh scoring eight goals for the Tigers.
Woorndoo/Mortlake scored a strong 28-9 win in the 17 and under game, with Indi Wardlaw shooting 13 goals, Ava Wardlaw six and Layla Wardlaw five.
Woorndoo/Mortlake got the points in the 13 and under game with a 23-11 win.
Paige Maddock shot 20 goals for the junior Tigers.
