Strong win for Tigers

SIMPSON’S women’s team have started their season with a strong win over Colac at CMTP Oval on Sunday.


Sent in to bat, the Tigers scored 3/117 from their 25 overs.

Batting at number three, Shae DeFrancesco top scored with 30 retired from 27 balls, hitting two fours.

Bianca Robinson was the other main contributor, finishing with 29 not out from 35 balls.

The Simpson bowlers ripped through the Colac top order, reducing the hosts to 7/32 before eventually bowling them out for 68 in the 19th over.

De Francesco took 3/2 from three overs, with Esha Crole and captain Chelsea Osburn taking two wickets each in the 59 run win.

This week the Tigers women play Birregurra at Birregurra.

The Tiger’s division two men made it two wins from two with a 47 run win over Alvie at Alvie.

Batting first, Simpson made 138 after being bowled out in the 37th over, Bailey Vines top scoring with 22.

Alvie were dismissed in the 23rd over for 91, Liam Ackerly leading the way with 3/8 from six overs.

In division three, Simpson had a 122 run loss to Colac at Simpson.

Colac made an imposing 4/241 from their 40 overs batting first.

The Tigers could only manage 8/119 in reply, Adrian Fratantaro top scoring with 35 not out and Harley Reynolds, playing his first game for Simpson, making 32.

In the under 14s on Friday night, Simpson had a strong win over Apollo Bay at Simpson.

Harry Vogels took 4/6 including a hat-trick in the Sharks total of 7/66.

In reply Simpson made 8/120 from their 30 overs.

Gabriel Capizzi and Josh Vines both making 13 retired.

In this week’s games, the division two Tigers play Tomahawk Creek at Irrewillipe, division three play Lorne at Lorne, while the under 14s play City United Gold at the Elliminyt Recreation Reserve.
