WITH two rounds of the Hampden League home and away season remaining, Camperdown looks unlikely to be playing finals.

The Magpies currently sit sixth on the ladder, two games behind the Bloods, and would need to beat Hamilton this weekend and Port Fairy in the final round while relying on the Bloods to lose against both Koroit and Hamilton.

Round 16 saw the Magpies enjoy a 48-point victory over Portland at home, 12.17.89 to 6.5.41.

The Magpies were quick to open their account, kicking four goals four in the opening quarter before extending their lead in the second to head into the main break with a handy 23-point lead.

A four goal second half, while containing the Tigers to one goal three, saw the Pies run home victors on the siren.

Hamish Sinnott, Cameron Spence, Riley Arnold, William Rowbottom, Angus Gordon and Joshua Place were named best for the Pies.

Sam Gordon had a great day out, kicking four for the home side, while Angus Gordon added three and Cameron Spence contributed two.

Judah Dundon, Nick Jones and Harry Sumner kicked one apiece.

The Magpies’ reserves are hoping to notch up win number two of the season after going down to the Tigers by 34 points, 4.1.25 to 8.11.59.

Daniel Page, Devon Coates, Daragh Fanning and Nelson Loader were among the best for the home side.

Tim Fitzgerald contributed two goals while Nathan Connell and Connor Jackson added one each.

Aidan Conheady, Scott Londregan, Lucas Wiffen, Joseph Gleeson, Tarkyn Love and Albie Cheeseman were named among the best for the Magpies.
