Student council hosts Biggest Morning Tea
STUDENTS at St Colman’s Primary School demonstrated their commitment to supporting others by hosting their first Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser in aid of Cancer Council Australia.
Organised by the school’s Student Representative Council (SRC), the event was held last Friday and encouraged students, families and staff to come together for a worthy cause.
St Colman’s principal Janet Cain said the fundraiser received “wonderful support” from the school community, with parents and students generously donating a range of homemade baked goods for sale.
Thanks to this generosity, the event raised $130, which will be donated to the Cancer Council to support cancer research, prevention programs and services for those affected by cancer.
Mrs Cain said the event provided an excellent opportunity for students to put their leadership skills into action while making a positive contribution to the wider community.
“The SRC members did a fantastic job organising the event, and we are incredibly grateful to all the families who supported it through their donations and purchases,” she said.
“The Biggest Morning Tea was a wonderful example of our students showing compassion, leadership and a desire to help others.”
The initiative also reflects St Colman’s ongoing commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, particularly the call to show compassion, uphold the dignity of every person and work for the common good by supporting those experiencing hardship and illness.
