Students celebrate Harmony Day
TIMBOON P-12 School students and staff celebrated Harmony Day on Friday, March 20 with an event which showcased the rich cultural diversity of the school community.

Mental health and wellbeing leader Lisa Pechotsch said families came together to celebrate their cultures.
“Families generously volunteered their time to share their culture, with countries represented including Peru, Canada, Indonesia, the Philippines, Ukraine, India and the Netherlands,” she said.
“Each display provided students with a unique insight into traditions, customs and ways of life from around the world.
“Students engaged in a range of hands-on experiences throughout the afternoon.
“They learned how to wrap a turban, explored traditional dance techniques, listened to and played musical instruments and sampled a variety of cultural foods.
“There were also opportunities to learn about language, landmarks, animals and traditional clothing.”
Mrs Pechotsch said the students really enjoyed the experience of learning about other cultures.
“The excitement and curiosity from students was evident as they moved through the displays, asking questions and making connections,” she said.
“The event provided a meaningful opportunity to build understanding, celebrate diversity and promote inclusion across the school.
“We extend our sincere thanks to the families who shared their time and culture.
“Their contribution helped create a memorable experience for all and reinforced an important message – everyone belongs.”
