HAVE you ever wondered about the process of making camembert?

Timboon P-12 School Year 8 students were challenged to make their very own Camembert in the classroom.

Timboon Agriculture Project (TAP) co-ordinator Andrea Vallance said students have been studying the science of cheesemaking including chemistry, food science and the scientific processes.

“Students learnt about the various types of cultures required to make cheese, the time and precision it takes, the types of milk used and the importance of hygiene”, she said.

“The unit gave students the opportunity to be involved in a real-life, hands-on science project.

“Schulz Organic Dairy’s organic full cream milk was being used for two big cheese making days and students produced cheeses that were hooped, brines and turned.”
