ACROSS the district Year 12 students faced the nail-biting moment of waiting for the final results of a culmination of 13 years of schooling on Monday.
Timboon P-12 School’s Rachel Morden was named as dux for the school with an ATAR of 88.9.
“I’m excited, I’m pretty happy with the results,” Rachel said.
“My family are happy for me.”
She said she planned on taking a gap year next year and travelling in Germany as an au pair.
“The next year I’m wanting to do a double degree in engineering and science at Monash,” Rachel said.
“Thank you to everyone for being supportive.”
School principal Davin Reid congratulated the graduating students on their results.
“Overall we’re very happy with the results,” he said.
“We’ve got a really big class this year. They’ve got some outstanding results.
“We’re very happy with the results and proud of the students for their efforts.”
Cobden Technical School’s Brodie Eddy was named as the school’s dux for 2022.
“I’m surprised a bit, but very happy,” he said.
“My family are very proud, my grandparents in particular.”
A keen pilot, Brodie hopes his future will be in the skies.
“I’m wanting to do a Bachelor of Aviation at RMIT,” he said.
“I’m wanting to go into commercial flights.
“I’ve got a deep passion for aviation. It would be awesome to make a career out of it.”
Brodie thanked the school for its support over the years.
“I want to thank the school, especially all my year 12 teachers,” he said.
School principal Rohan Keert said as well as securing DUX for 2022, Brodie was also the top student in English, Further Maths and Business Management.
He also completed VET engineering and took on the challenge of completing physics by distance with Virtual Schools Victoria.
“Brodie is already an accomplished pilot, having undertaken flight training locally, and he plans to pursue further study by completing a Bachelor of Aviation at RMIT,” Mr Keert said.
He said at Cobden Technical School, equal emphasis was placed on the three parallel senior school pathways of VCE, VET and VCAL.
Mr Keert said the top performing senior VCAL student was Lachlan Herschell.
“Lachlan has already secured a building apprenticeship with Roberts Builders, Cobden,” Mr Keert said.
“Our VCE students have successfully completed study that will allow them to access further education and training in such broad-ranging fields as nursing, agriculture, business, childcare and engineering.
“They are now awaiting confirmation of offers, which will occur anytime from now up until mid-January.”
Mr Keert said Cobden Technical School staff were proud of the graduating students “and wish them every success as they move into the next stage of their lives”.
“It has been wonderful to work and celebrate with these students in our first full year of face to face to learning post pandemic,” he said.
