IN a return to the stage, performing arts students at Camperdown College are preparing for rows of chairs lining the AG Daws Hall as they perform High School Musical Junior.

After two years of rescheduled, postponed and cancelled audiences at live shows, students are looking forward to having family and friends packing the hall to see them perform.

The cast include lead roles Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High.

The show follows the group as they deal with issues of love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extra-curricular activities.

Performing arts teacher Graeme Bennett said the High School Musical Junior show is a “great fit” for the college and brings an upbeat, lively feel to the stage.

“The show’s infectious, danceable songs are sure to engage performers and audiences alike,” he said.

“It’s the perfect fit to be delivering such an energetic show to welcome audiences back and we are really looking forward to great attendance from the whole community.

“Who wouldn’t want to attend live theatre right here in Camperdown and witness some future stars on stage?”

Parents and Friends of Camperdown College are providing a themed supper during the show for all in attendance.

Three dates have been set for performances to ensure there is a day and time to suit everyone:

  • Thursday, June 2, 7.30pm;

  • Friday, June 3, 7.30pm; and

  • Saturday, June 4, 2pm.

Tickets are available from www.eventbrite.com.au and more information is available from www.camperdowncoll.vic.edu.au.
