CAMPERDOWN bowlers Vicki Brebner and Maria Van Someren will represent the Corangamite area next February.

The pair won their way through several games and will now compete against Warrnambool and Far Western next year.

On November 5, eight ladies’ pairs sides played each other for this opportunity.

Vicki and Maria played a combined central and Winchelsea side, Pauline Price and Erin Baulch, who were defending champions from last season.

The pair won on the last end 16-15 and then went on to play in the semi-finals that afternoon.

They defeated Coral Hanson and Kathy Leslie from City 16-15.

The final was played under the dome at Colac Lakes on Wednesday November 8.

There, Vicki and Maria faced Leeanne Fitzgerald from Camperdown Golf and Jodie Bertrand from Apollo Bay.

This game was drawn three times during the 15 ends and by the 13th it was 14-all.

The girls picked up one shot to lead going into the last end 15-14 and finished victorious, 19-14.

Last Thursday night saw the club’s Open Drawn Triples finalised.

Out of the six teams that played only Fred Salmon and Vicki Brebner’s teams were on two wins.

Ron Cameron and Matthew Brewer’s team had a win and a loss while the other two sides, led by Maria Van Someren and Mark McDonald, had two losses.

Fred played Maria and lost; Vicki played Ron and lost so the winner of the night was Ron Cameron, Ron Absalom and Judy Borthwick.

Vicki Brebner, Ray Bourke and Jayden Brewer were runners-up by two ends from Fred Salmon, Harry Van Someren and Les Pearson.

The next club event will be the Open Pairs - remember to get your teams in by Tuesday, November 21.

On Saturday divisions one and four headed to Winchelsea for what was a lovely day on the green - hardly any wind but the results were very disappointing.

Ron Cameron’s rink was the best, only going down by five shots.

They led for most of day. Even on the 22nd end at 18 all, they were unable to stop the momentum and lost 18-23.

Mark McDonald’s rink was another story - they didn’t score until the 10th end.

The positive is they scored in three of the last five ends (the only Camperdown side that did); going down 18/33.

Matthew Brewer’s rink had a close game with scores level three times until the 19th end where the opposition scored on five of the last six ends – 18-34.

Luke Wright’s rink had the same problem, only scoring on seven ends of the possible 25; going down 13-30.

It only takes a week in bowls to bring you back to reality.

Winchelsea is a very polished and even side.

Ladder: Winchelsea, Colac, City, Apollo Bay, Simpson, Camperdown, Camperdown Golf, Central, Cobden and Lorne.

This week teams have changed and we also play early up at Camperdown Golf - a 12 noon start so please be at the club by 11am.

In division three Camperdown 2 headed to Cobden for their game and only went down by five shots to the ladder leaders.

Ron Absalom, Les, Max and Gerard jumped out of the starting gates and didn’t let up.

They scored on 16 ends out of the possible 25 - great work gentlemen, with the final score 21-10.

Len Searle’s rink that included Tan, Filumena and Ray had a different game that went down to the last end.

They were down 9-13 on the 10th end, 15-all on the 14th and 22-all on the second last end.

They finished won on the last shot, 22-23.

Ron Simcox, Les, Bert and Graeme, just couldn’t get in the game, only scoring on seven ends which makes it hard to win a game.

They went down 11-27.

Tom Hose, David, Herm and Gordon turned the tables on their opposition after being 9-all on the 12th.

On the last nine ends they scored a total of 10 shots to nines to win 19-18.

Division four fielded three rinks, which was wonderful.

Paul, Pam, Caroline and Donna had a close game before the break leading 10-9.

They were only two down on the 18th but Winchelsea picked up nine shots in two ends.

Camperdown/Lismore went down 12-22.

The next rink of Lyn, Ted, Jim and John were 7-0 but then didn’t score for six ends to be down 7-13.

They fought hard but went down 14-26.

Gerard, Pip, Judy and Noel had a battle on their hands, only being down by two shots on the seventh end.

Winchelsea upped the tempo and went away winners 11-25.
