MARCH rainfall brought mixed results for Terang and Mortlake as both communities stood either side of the long-term expected average.
Terang experienced 29mm of rainfall during March, below the long-term expected average of 48.2mm.
The highest daily rainfall occurred on March 6 when 10.4mm was recorded.
The figure represents a welcome decline from 2022 when a whopping 75.8mm last March set the tone for what would be a year of high rainfall and widespread flooding.
To date Terang has experienced 123.4mm of rainfall throughout the first three months of the year, consistent with the long-term expected average of 125.1mm during the same period.
Meanwhile in Mortlake, rain fell above the long-term expected average during March with 40.6mm hitting the ground.
The figure rose above the long-term expected average of 32.5mm, with the highest daily rainfall occurring on March 7 when 17.2mm fell.
The total marks a decline on the 57.8mm which fell during the same month last year, however Mortlake remains off to a wet start for the year.
Total rainfall for Mortlake in 2023 stands at 112mm, above the 100.6mm long-term expected average.
