LOCAL couple Graeme and Beverley Bant will couple a lasting legacy on the Camperdown community.

Mr Bant, who died in 2018, bequeathed a large amount of money to Sunnyside House, which was presented to the board at the annual general meeting on Wednesday.

The couple had no children and following Mrs Bants death in 2012, Mr Bant provided instructions to prepare an updated Will.

He had a passion for the local district and especially the town of Camperdown.

Mr Bant was a past president and life member of the Camperdown Turf Club and had been involved all his life with horses and farming.

His desire was to provide for the local community and following discussions with Bernie Sinnott – at that time a board member and treasurer of Sunnyside House Inc. – Graeme instructed 25 per cent of his Estate would be provided to Sunnyside House Inc. to assist with the provision of “Ageing in Place” in Camperdown.

Sunnyside House chief executive officer Claire Schmierer said the donation of $500,000 was greatly appreciated.

“It’s huge, it’s absolutely wonderful and exceptional of him to do that for us,” she said.

“It (the funds) will be used to benefit the residents.”

Ms Schmierer said the funds would likely be used for the expansion of the resident’s dining room and refurbishments.
