Super Saturday for Cobden
COBDEN had more than a few super additions on Saturday.

COBDEN had more than a few super additions on Saturday.
Cobden drew a crowd once again with people of all ages making their way to Curdie Street to browse markets, listen to music, visit Chelsea Hatherall’s open studio, play with Lego at Anglicare’s Brick Club and enjoy a host of other activities on offer for Super Saturday.
Cobden business and economic development consultant Laura Hultgren said the day wasa success.
“We were fortunate enough to have a French busker named Charles from the Port Fairy Folk Festival play at the market on the day, as well as Mr M Adventures who entertained the mini superheroes and their parents in the arcade,” she said.
“All the kids looked amazing, and it was extremely tough to choose just one winner for the superhero dress up competition but, in the end, Super Ruby came away the winner of the giant lolly box.
“Super Ruby was praised by the judges for her original and unique superhero costume.”
Ms Hultgren thanked those who took part in the superhero dress-up competition.
“Thank you to everyone who dressed up as your favourite hero on the day,” she said.
“A big thanks also goes to Thommo’s Hotel who provided the superhero round about entertainment.”
The winner of the colouring competition was Audrey Humm who won a colouring packand giant soft bunny and the winner of the $50 gift card draw was Chloe Bamford.
Ms Hultgren said feedback so far had been “overwhelmingly positive with people saying they had an awesome day and that there was a great atmosphere down the street with lots of happy faces”.
She said some mentioned they travelled to come to the event because Cobden always puts on the best events.
“Hearing such great feedback from the Cobden community, visitors, stall holders and businesses highlights why we love to put these events on,” Ms Hultgren.
“I would like to say thank you to every business, community organisation and volunteer who put in the effort in the lead up to Super Saturday and on the day to help us pull off such an amazing experience.
“A lot of work goes into these events to give everyone a unique and wonderful experience and we could not do it without the support of the volunteers and businesses who contribute.
“I would also like to thank all of you who attended on the day. These events would not be a success without you.”
Ms Hultgren said The Comedy For Kindness film cast and crew were also making their way around Cobden, visiting Alderwood Speakers, Cobden Mini Golf and Cobden Miniature Railway as well as wandering the street to invite people along to a hilarious night of laughs at Pioneer Park, in recognition of local identity Jo Beard.
