Camperdown is a finalist in the Small Tourism Town category (population 1500-5000), while Port Campbell is a finalist in the Tiny Tourism Town category (population less than 1,000).

Mayor councillor Kate Makin said having two towns make the finals this year was a testament to the wonderful tourism opportunities across the shire.

“Part two of the competition is a public vote so we need everyone to get out and cast their votes for Camperdown and Port Campbell,” she said.

“To vote go to vtic.com.au/toptourismtown and fly the flag for Camperdown and Port Campbell.

“Having one finalist on the Great Ocean Road and one further north in our beautiful Volcanic Lakes and Plains region is a really persuasive way to encourage visitors to stick around for a while and explore all the region has to offer.

“As part of the award submissions amazing promotional packages have been prepared with three-day itineraries, photos and videos that highlight our landscape, activities and businesses.”

Victorian Tourism Industry Council’s panel of industry experts judged both towns to be among the state’s best destinations.

Winners will be announced in August and, if Camperdown and Port Campbell bring home another gold, they will go on to the nationwide finals as part of Australia’s Top Tourism Town Awards in September.

Voting is now open and closes at 5pm on Friday, June 26.
