The morning tea was held at Camperdown’s Red Robin Café on Wednesday morning, with coffee, tea, scones and sandwiches on offer for attendees.

Aged care redevelopment manager Janine Dureau-Finn was guest speaker at the event, providing an update on the construction works at the new 36 room Merindah Lodge redevelopment.

“It takes up the whole of the three lots. It’s a very big building; you don’t think it’s big until you walk on it,” she said.

“We’re on schedule, which is good news.

“It’s always good to know that things are progressing well.

“We’ve been really blessed with our weather; we’ve had an amazing summer, and it hasn’t been that wet. In fact, I think we lost two half days, and they were due to heat not due to wet weather.”

Ms Dureau-Finn brought along photos from the construction site, including drone shots taken by the contractors.

“Our exciting news is that the steel structure is up on the far western end of the building, which we’re calling building D, which is our upstairs level,” she said.

“All the concrete has been poured on the ground floor.

“On June 5, there’s a planned concrete pour for the whole of the first level, so that’ll be a huge day.

“There’ll be two big cranes, there’ll probably be every cement truck in the district because they need to do that pour in one day.”

South West Healthcare volunteers from Camperdown, Lismore and Derrinallum were all able to ask questions about the build as they enjoyed conversations and celebrated their contributions.

Director Camperdown Hospital and Aged Care Service Abhinay Dolar was also in attendance, expressing his gratitude to the volunteers.

“Thank you everyone for volunteering and giving your time to our community and our organisation,” he said.

“We appreciate all your help and assistance.”
