Swimmers try their luck

PORT Campbell Surf Life Saving Club (PCSLSC) members helped raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation over the weekend.
Club captain Darcy Tribe said on Saturday, February 18 the club special events committee ran a swim raffle fundraiser for the Foundation.
“We were able to raise $1500 for the leukaemia foundation,” he said.
“We chose the foundation this year because of its support of life member Jon McLeod and his family over the past year.
“Its support of Jon’s family was amazing by offering councelling, numerous other services and an apartment in North Melbourne next to the hospital where Jon got his treatment.”
The swim raffle saw swimmers complete a 50 metre lap in the bay, earning themselves one numbered table tennis ball that was their entry into the raffle.
Participants then had the option to swim more laps to earn more raffle entries or finish up for the day.
Mr Tribe said 28 local businesses generously donated to the raffle.
“We thank them for their ongoing support of local fundraising,” he said.
“It’s a fun day and a great little event.”
Mr Tribe said the swim raffle added to the celebration of the pink patrol this year.
“The pink patrol celebrates PCSLSC women past and present, who contributed to our club and to lifesaving,” he said.
“It is hoped the positive role modelling will inspire future generations of women to confidently pursue opportunities in lifesaving with PCSLSC.”
