Taking on the Better Challenge
CAMPERDOWN Betta’s Amy Morris will be pounding the pavement this month to raise funds for research into childhood cancers.

Mrs Morris, who is the store manager, will be taking part in the Kids’ Cancer Project’s Better Challenge – a health and fitness challenge which tasks people with walking 90 kilometres in 30 days.
The fundraiser goes towards providing funding for scientists to work on research to improve survival rates for childhood cancers and improve the post-treatment lives of young people with cancer.
Mrs Morris said she was inspired to participate following the BSR franchise – which owns Betta – partnering with the organisation.
“I thought ‘why not? I have children under the age of 18’,” she said.
“We need to get it out there and support it.
“I think it’s just a really good cause – whether I get donations or not, it’s still me being a part of it and supporting it.
“I’m absolutely honoured – I didn’t know that 90 children each month were diagnosed with cancer, so for Betta to be a sponsor I feel very privileged to be able to attempt the challenge.”
Mrs Morris will walk 90 kilometres over the month of September, which represents the 90 children diagnosed with cancer every month.
At the time of publication, she had walked 29.57 kilometres and raised $130.
Mrs Morris encouraged people to donate to her walk online by visiting betterchallenge.org.au/amy-morris.
“They can also jump on and join our team if they want to get out and do some exercise as well,” she said.
“There is that option if they want to donate or join in and rack up some kilometres.”
