COBDEN Technical School students will be able to continue maintaining and growing their vineyard, olive grove and wetland area.

Corangamite Shire Council approved the lease of a portion of the land at the Cobden Racecourse Reserve at 29 Grayland Street to enable the school to continue the project.

Shire property officer Wendy Williamson said the lease of the land originally began in 2001 with the lease renewed over the years.

“Council own the land at the Cobden Racecourse Reserve which is situated at 29 Grayland Street, Cobden,” she said in her report to council.

“Cobden Technical School’s lease agreement expires on November 18, 2023 and the school wish to renew their agreement for a five year period with a five year option.

“There is an opportunity for council to enter into a new lease agreement with Cobden Technical School which will see the continuation of the vineyard, olive grove and wetland area and provide the opportunity for students to continue to learn about horticulture in these specialist areas.

“The lease will be based on the council’s standard lease document with the annual rental fee in accordance with council policy.”
