THE Terang and district Probus club members enjoyed a recent bus trip to the Union Station.

They travelled via Hopkins Falls before having lunch at the Union Station hotel.

This was followed by a visit to Union Station homestead where the owners Colin and Janice McKenna met the members.

The spectacular garden featuring many roses has been developed and curated by Janice.

Of local interest was resident gardner Mark Grayland, who is the grandson of Probian Joan Grayland.

Colin also showed the horse trophies won by the very good mare Jameka; namely Caulfield Cup and the VRC Oaks.

At the most recent monthly meeting Cooinda chief executive officer Janice Harris was the five minute speaker.

Members were enthralled by the growth of the facility in the last few years with a staff of 165 and a budget of $12 million.

Guest speaker was Becky Nevinberger from South West Carer and Respite Services Network.

She talked on the Warm Safe Home Project.

This organisation ensures that needy people are cared for in the safety of their own home free from financial, social and physical abuse.

Christmas breakup is at The Wheatsheaf Hotel on Monday, December 5 at 12noon.

Members will reconvene for monthly meetings in February.
