Terang students head to state titles

TERANG College students Tyler Vickers and Jessica Bell have qualified to compete at this month’s School Sport Victoria State Cross-Country Championships.

Tyler (year 12) and Jessica (year 11) will head to the Yarra Valley Racing Club in Yarra Glen to compete on Thursday, July 18.

Both students won their respective age group events, and broke records, at the Terang College house cross-country in April.

Tyler then went on to win the HSSSD cross-country 18–20-year boys event the and Jess finished third at the event; qualifying them to compete at the Greater Western Region Cross Country in Warrnambool.

Qualification for states required students to finish in the top 12 of their age group at the GWR competition.

Tyler finished fifth in the five kilometre 17-20 year boys race in just under 18 minutes and Jess finished 10th overall in the 17-20 girls in a personal best time (over 3km) of 12 minutes 56.49 seconds.
