Terang students shine
TERANG College’s senior cricket side has shown skill and resilience at the recent Greater Western Region cricket finals.
The side, comprising students from years nine through to 12, enjoyed perfect weather conditions in Ballarat for the finals on Wednesday, March 6.
With an under-manned side of seven, Terang College earned its way through to the finals after winning at regional level last month.
Although a VCE outdoor ed camp saw a few of the more senior boys unavailable for the Ballarat competition (which resulted in some younger students joining the team) the side put on a great performance against some highly skilled, more senior sides.
The boys played three consecutive games on the small, fast ovals at Russell Square.
These were played against Phoenix, Mortlake and Emmanuel colleges.
All games were played in great spirit and there was some great comradery on display from the Terang boys.
A massive highlight of the day for Terang was a first-game win against Phoenix College – a much larger school from Ballarat.
Chasing 178 from 12.4 overs, Terang managed to take the win with just eight balls remaining.
Ned Roberts smashed his way to an unbeaten 103 (retired).
