Terang to contest grand final
TERANG Bowling Club will be well represented in this Saturday’s grand finals, with the club’s division two and three sides set to play.
Both teams played well to win their preliminary finals matches last weekend, earning them a spot in their respective grand finals, to be played at City Memorial Bowls Club.
In division two, Terang Blue defeated City White 69-57.
G. Downie, R. Mills, R. Ross, P. O'Connor lost to P. Symmons 17-33.
D. Delaney, T. Rees, J. Staunton, J. Heffernan def P. Cooke 23-10.
D. Morrison, B. Stonehouse, J. Fowler, A. Taylor def K. Bell 29-14.
In division three, Terang Red defeated Koroit White 73-50.
P. Templeton, J. Fidge, G. Wynd, B. Kenna def P. Daly 22-21.
N. Uebergang, J. Gherashe, T. Heffernan, G. Newton def G. Keane 29-14.
P. Reid, J. Whirehead, D. Henriksen, D. Hilton def J. Duffield 22-15.
In Saturday’s grand finals Terang Blue will play Warrnambool Red and Terang Red will be up against City Green.
Both teams will play at City.
Nineteen players competed in last Thursday’s competition and despite the hot blustery conditions some good scores were recorded.
A grade winner was Peter Hrabar 90-20-70 and runner-up was Sharee Scanlon 82-10-72.
B grade winner was Linda Kenna 111-43-77 with runner-up Karen Mather 107-28-79.
Balls down the line went to Heather Holmes 89-14-75, Marion Venn 88-13-75 and Cate Glennon 91-16-75.
Nearest the pins: 3rd Sharee Scanlon, 11th Judy Carmody and 18th from off the green Peter Hrabar.
Putting went to Heather Holmes 27 and Peter Hrabar 27 while Sharee Scanlon was the ladies monthly medal winner.
Results from the first round of ladies’ championships:
A grade - Sharee Scanlon 82, Marion Venn 88, Heather Holmes 89 and Cate Glennon 91.
B grade - Karen Mather 107, Janet Saunders 109, Linda Kenna 111 and Maureen Bond 112.
Next week will be stroke and the second round of the championship.
