Thank you: recognising the amazing women of Moyne Shire
THE nominees for the 2024 Inspiring Women of Moyne have been unveiled.
Moyne Shire Council will celebrate the incredible women who make the community special at a free event next week, where this year’s winner will be named.
An “overwhelming response” saw more than 50 women nominated for the award, which aims to recognise and celebrate women in the shire who - whether through their work, studies, families, relationships, or community involvement – make Moyne Shire a better place.
The awards will be presented at a free breakfast event at Glyph Gallery in Port Fairy on Friday, March 8 – which marks International Women’s Day.
The event will be hosted by deputy mayor Karen Foster and feature guest speaker Kirsten Diprose – a mother, farmer, educator and award-winning journalist.
The nominees for the 2024 Inspiring Women of Moyne were selected by mayor Ian Smith and Cr Foster from the extensive list of nominees.
Cr Foster said it was important for women in the Moyne community to be acknowledged for their valuable contributions.
“Each of the women nominated are examples of the strong, capable and generous women among us,” she said.
“These women have been nominated because they make a difference in the world around them, inspiring others.
“These awards are a passion of mine and provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate women making positive impacts in the community while continuing the push for greater gender equality.”
Free tickets for the event can be booked online at https://events.humanitix.com/inspiring-women-of-moyne-awards.
