Rewarded patience: This month’s exhibition at the Camperdown Courthouse features a collection of Diamond (or Bead) Arts.

The Diamond Arts, also commonly referred to as Bead Arts, have been completed by artist Bryce Page.

Lisa Page, Mr Page’s mother, said Mr Page first took up the art form during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“He took up Diamond Art to entertain himself and pass the time during lockdowns, and he became hooked,” she said.

“He has created many, many amazing pieces since then and continues his passion post COVID-19.”

Mr Page’s works have each taken hours to complete and feature a variety of subjects.

Mrs Page said the patience required to complete the Diamond Arts was not the only challenge he faced.

“Bryce was diagnosed with an acquired brain injury as a toddler, which left him with impaired fine and gross motor skills and short-term memory problems,” said.

“Specialists said he would probably never hold a pencil to draw or write, but he proved them wrong.

“In kindergarten and throughout primary school, Bryce liked drawing and writing short stories, but never colouring.

“In high school he learned to copy pictures, but it wasn’t until he was a young adult that he coloured in, using many different mediums.”

The exhibition will be held throughout the month of May at the Camperdown Courthouse at 179 Manifold Street.

Camperdown Courthouse exhibition curator Jan Barnes encouraged residents to have a look at the exhibition.

“Please look around and enjoy Bryce’s dazzling creations,” she said.
