CAMPERDOWN locals can help make Christmas a little bit brighter for those less fortunate.

A collection of toys and non-perishable food items has begun, with collection points at Rtichies IGA Camperdown and Cobden stores, as well as the Terang Co-Op Supa IGA.

Camperdown and District Motorcycle Club president Sam Argyle said the goods will be taken to the Warrnambool Salvation Army to be distributed among the local network.

He called on the wider community to make a donation if able.

Mr Argyle said the club had been running the local collection for four years which was part of the wider Warrnambool Motorcycle Toy Run.

“Last year we took down a station wagon, a trailer and a ute full of items,” he said.

“People were most definitely supportive. I’m very appreciate of that.”

Mr Argyle said as well as new toys, donations can include non perishable foods and toiletries.

“We appreciate the generosity of locals,”he said.

“Thank you to the local IGA’s, they have been really good to us.”

Members of the Camperdown Motorcycle Club will pick up the donations from the stores on December 8 (today).

Mr Argyle said the Camperdown and District Motorcycle Club had more than 120 members.

“It’s a really good club,” he said.

“It’s not just a bike club, we’ve donated to the Bostocks Creek CFA and other groups over the years.

“We’re fairly community oriented.”
