Camperdown College’s junior campus held its annual parade on Tuesday, with a wide variety of costumes showcased on the day.

Library teacher Lauren Murphy said the school was “really impressed” with the efforts made by students and parents this year.

“They have done an absolutely fabulous job this year,” she said.

“They’ve stepped up the costumes again this year from last year, so it’s really good to see all the kids get in the spirit of it and it’s really nice.

“I think they’re really into it this year – you can tell by the enthusiasm of the children and the excitement that they’ve brought this morning.

“Thank you to all the parents and friends – all the adjustments that we’ve had to make because of Mother Nature – and our special guest readers Corangamite Shire Council mayor Kate Makin and senior school captains Riley Stephenson and Ebony Pearce.”

Winners of the best costume for their year level were:

Prep - Jackson as the Wonky Donkey;

Year One - Sage as Wednesday Adams;

Year Two - Archie, who was dressed as Dog Man;

Year Three - Violet, who was an army officer from In Flanders Fields;

Year Four - Axl as The Green Sheep;

Year Five - Henry as a troll from Trolls and

Year Six - Zander as the Mad Hatter.

Students also enjoyed a virtual author visit from Illustrated Encyclopedia author-illustrator Sami Bayly.

Derrinallum P-12 College also held their parade on Tuesday, with costumes on display from both students and teachers.

Queenie the Quad Lady author Suzanne Lewis also visited the school on Wednesday.

Lismore Primary School and St Patrick’s Primary School will be holding their Book Week parades on Friday (today), with St Pat’s also holding a book swap on the day.

This year’s Book Week theme was ‘Reading is Magic’.
