Thousands go to Good Friday Appeal
COMMUNITIES across the region dug deep on Friday, sending more than $45,000 to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Timboon and District Good Friday Appeal area manager Lee Edge thanked the community for its “overwhelming support”.
“I’d like to thank everyone who donated towards the golf day and auction,” she said.
“The golf day was absolutely fantastic; it was a good day for all.”
Ms Edge thanked the wider community for its ongoing support in helping to make a difference in the lives of children across Victoria.
“Once again a big thank you to everyone for their support of the appeal,” she said.
Timboon and district supported the cause to the tune of $33,276, with district fire brigades rallying to bring in a large portion of the final total with Brucknell-Ayrford collecting $2385.60, Ecklin $332.45, Kennedys Creek $2015.15, Lower Heytesbury $1568.55, Nirranda South $545, Nullawarre $3865.80, Peterborough $1291.30, Princetown $1802.20, Port Campbell $1699.05, Scotts Creek $463.25, Simpson $1502.05 and Timboon $3275.20.
In addition to the CFA collection, the annual Eddie’s Corner fundraiser raised $1485.05.
Cobden Quota Club’s appeal raised $10,197.75 for the cause, according to Cobden appeal manager Fran Warden.
“It’s down on last year, but I still think the Cobden community has a very generous heart,” she said.
“Once again they have supported us.
“The collectors did a wonderful job, I was very proud of them all. Without the people on the roundabouts we would have been well down, I can’t thank them enough.”
Mrs Warden said the Cobden community had “rallied around the cause”.
“All in all, it was a pretty good day,” she said.
“Our team worked very well together.”
Mrs Warden said the annual collection was a year-long effort.
“Thank you to all the businesses that have the collection tins all year long, it adds up,” she said.
“Thank you to the Cobden Bakery for allowing us to conduct the day there and the Cobden Golf Club and its members for their ongoing support.”
In Peterborough, campers at the Great Ocean Road Tourist Park helped raise $1834.60 after taking part in a number of activities.
Park operator Dean Hellessey was pleased with the final total.
“Everything went very well, it was a fantastic day,” he said.
“We’re blown away with the support from everyone staying at the park.
“Thank you to the Brebners and Marg White in particular for their support of the day.”
Mr Hellessey said a raffle organised by the Brebner family raised $800 on its own.
