Through the Lens success
The first ever Cobden Through the Lens exhibition was a picture-perfect celebration of local creativity, filling the Cobden Civic Hall supper room with colour, conversation and community pride.
There were 67 entries in total, each capturing Cobden through a different lens – from misty mornings over lake Cobden to smiling faces, historic buildings and the simple beauty of everyday life.
The exhibition, held from October 24 to October 26, showcased how locals see their town and the special moments which make it unique.
The event opened on the Friday evening with judging by renowned photographer Rodney Harris, who announced the category winners to an enthusiastic crowd.
Visitors continued to drop in across the weekend, casting their votes for the community choice award, proudly sponsored by the Cobden and District Community Bank, which was presented on the Sunday afternoon.
Progressing Cobden secretary Kathryn Stubbings said the group was delighted with the community response.
“It was great to see how others view Cobden – and where they see the magic,” she said.
“The photos showed so much heart and pride.
“Everyone brought their own story to life through the lens.”
Mrs Stubbings thanked all entrants, visitors, volunteers and sponsors for their support, adding planning is already underway for next year’s exhibition.
“We’ve had wonderful feedback and can’t wait to make this a regular highlight for Cobden,” she said.
