SIMPSON’S D grade netballers went down to South Colac by 16 goals last weekend, ending their 2022 finals series.
The team put on a solid four-quarter effort according to coach Georgie Arndell but were unable to keep up with South Colac for the duration.
“The girls really put in 110 per cent and as coach I couldn’t ask for anymore than that,” Arndell said.
“Yes it was disappointing not to have won and got through to the grand final but I am super proud of each and every one of them. They all showed a huge amount of improvement this season and they really gelled well asa team, particularlytowards the end of the season.
“To get into the five and then make it through to the preliminary final round was a huge credit to them all. Last Saturday didn’t go our way but they can all hold their heads high.”
The Tigers found themselves 10 goals down at half-time, 24-14, but nerves settled in the last half and they showed some strong passages of play through the mid-court.
“Next year I’m sure we’ll go one better,” Arndell said.
“Simpson is a wonderful club to be involved with; it’s very much family-orientated and everyone is friendly and welcoming. Look out for the Tigers in season 2023.”
