WOORNDOO Mortlake’s senior footballers enjoyed a 321-point victory over Moyston Willaura at the weekend.
In front of a home crowd on Saturday, the Tigers put on a goal kicking spree much to the delight of coach Tyson Hogan.
“We kicked 52 goals for the day and they were shared around which was good to see,” Hogan said.
“It was a great team effort. We got back to basics and really played our brand of footy."
“It was a big win as a result of a full four-quarter effort from everyone."
“We didn’t get carried away. We set goals for each quarter and we achieved them which was pleasing.”
Hogan made particular mention of the likes of Keilan Webster-Bamford and Matthew Pemberton, who gave the team plenty of drive.
“Keilan and Matt were both really good early and they finished off well,” Hogan said.
“This weekend we’ll be up against Lismore Derri, who currently sit just above us in third position, so it’ll be a great test to see where we’re at in the run home."
“They’ll be just as eager as us to get another win on the board. They’ll be coming off a draw so will be hungry for a win.”
With only two point separating the two clubs, Hogan is expecting a hard-fought contest on Saturday.
“We will need to bring our best footy to take the four points,” he said.
