WOORNDOO Mortlake Football Netball Club will again be represented in Mininera finals this weekend, with all six teams contesting semi-finals.
Losses for both the senior and reserves football, and the B grade netball side at Tatyoon last Saturday, will see all three head to the first semi at Derrinallum this Sunday – where they will be joined by the club’s A and C grade netball sides.
Wins to the Tigers’ 15 and unders and 13 and under netball teams in last Saturday’s qualifying final will see them progress to this Saturday’s second semi – where they will join the Tigers’ currently undefeated 18 and unders.
In the senior football qualifying final at Tatyoon last weekend, the Tigers went down by eight points to neighbours, Wickliffe Lake Bolac, 9.8.62 to 10.10.70.
The Tigers took an early lead, heading in to the second quarter a goal ahead, but the Pies fought back, adding two goals seven to their tally to go into the main break with a handy five-point lead.
A relatively even third term saw both sides unable to make any real progress on the scoreboard while in the final term the Pies added three goals three while containing the Tigers to two goals two.
An eight-point win will see the Pies take on ladder leaders Tatyoon in the second semi-final on Saturday.
