WOORNDOO Mortlake showed the recent three week break had not affected its Mininera and District league campaign, with the Tigers easily prevailing last Saturday.

The Tigers returned to the top of the table after once again producing a workmanlike performance to record a comfortable 20.11 (137) to 3.5 (23) victory over Penshurst.

Jesse Horan and Matthew Pemberton starred for the victors, with the pair kicking six and five goals respectively to lead the Tigers charge.

The pair was able to assist Woorndoo Mortlake in hitting the scoreboard despite a quiet game from Jordan Buckley and the absence of key forward Grant Cameron.

Coach Damien Pemberton continued his rich vein of form, while Will Templeton once again showed he has been the Tigers most consistent midfielder this year.

James Coghlan-West also enjoyed another strong game, while boom recruit Isaac Templeton produced his best performance since debuting against Hawkesdale Macarthur on May 15.

The win keeps the Tigers unbeaten after seven games, with Tatyoon the only other side within the competition also yet to taste defeat.

The two sides are set to square off on July 10 and the Tigers will be eager to produce another strong showing this week ahead of that clash.

They are set to welcome Wickliffe-Lake Bolac to Woorndoo on Saturday, with the Magpies dropping away significantly this season after just missing out on finals action in 2019.

Meanwhile, the Tigers A grade netball side also made a winning return to the court.

A strong second half saw Woorndoo Mortlake stroll to a 53-27 victory, with goalie Sarah Cameron once again best on court.

She shot 38 goals from 54 attempts and was well supported by Ash Spokes (15 goals) while Kate Jubb produced a strong game in defence.

The victory saw Woorndoo Mortlake remain undefeated from seven games ahead of a clash with sixth-placed Wickliffe-Lake Bolac.

The Magpies have won four games this season, the same amount as they won in 2019, and looked to have improved as evidenced by its victory over 2019 finalist Moyston Willaura in round one.
