Tigers prepare for must-win clash
SIMPSON’S senior netballers are preparing for a “must win” game against Otway Districts this weekend.

SIMPSON’S senior netballers are preparing for a “must win” game against Otway Districts this weekend.
Coming off a 34-41 goal loss to top side Alvie last weekend, the Tigers are keen to turn the tables on Saturday in what senior coach Paige Salmon has described as an all-important game.
“We’re currently sitting fourth, just percentage ahead of Otway Districts, with Apollo Bay in sixth,” Salmon said.
“We’ll be treating this Saturday as an elimination final. It really is a must-win if we are to stay in finals contention because, looking at the draw, Apollo Bay shouldn’t drop a game so we can’t afford to either.”
Reflecting on last Saturday’s match, Salmon said she was happy with how her side performed against quality opposition.
“Alvie is on top for a reason; they’re a quality side but I’m happy with how we matched up against them,” Salmon said.
“A five minute lapse in the third quarter really cost us and that’s something we need to work on. We’re keen to play finals so we’ll be giving it 110 per cent this weekend.”
Salmon and mid-courter Carol Arndell were named best for the Tigers last weekend.
The Tigers’ B grade side enjoyed a close battle with Alvie but was able to take the four points with a 33-32 goal win.
Best for the side were Chloe Woods, Maddi Cunnington and Rachel Mason.
C grade lost 23-24 with Anna Box, Georgia Arndell and Hayley Weel named best on court.
In the junior games, the 15 and under team was defeated 15-37. Best on court: Ella Arndell, Kaylee Jansen and Esha Crole.
The 13 and under team lost 74-4 with Milah Crole, Ellen Whiting and Lucy Ferrar named best for the Tigers.
Simpson will host Otway Districts this weekend.
